This week, a deep discussion with Systema Instructor and Harvard-educated physician Michael Chin.
Raised by Zen-trained parents and trained from a young age in mindfulness meditation, Michael later turned to Chinese martial arts to expand his awareness of breathing and movement. In the high-stress environment at Harvard Medical School, he began looking at alternatives and discovered Systema.
Now, he is fascinated by the power of Systema to control physiological responses, and is actively researching and publishing scientific papers on Systema principles.
Here, we discuss all this and more, including:
Including:
his journey from martial practice to medical research
understanding mind-body disciplines through science
the role of rythmic breathing in regulating your nervous system
breathing, tension, and flow state
